Majority of Chief Rabbi Votes Are In, Results at 8PM


Out of the 150 people on the Chief Rabbi voting panel, 100 have voted. The body is made up of rabbis, Members of Knesset, and other community leaders. The election is for both the Ashkenazi and Sephardi Chief Rabbi, who jointly lead the Rabbinate. There are a total of six candidates, three for Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi and three for Sephardi Chief Rabbi. The term lasts for ten years and a Chief Rabbi cannot run for a second term. The results of the election are expected at 8:00PM.
