The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange opened Tuesday-morning trading with modest gains in mixed trading. As of 11:00 the TA Composite Index stood at 1,115.68, up .06 percent, while the same percentage increase meant a posting of 1,112.81 for the TA 100, including a tenth-of-a-percent gain to 1,230.76 for the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 also rose a tenth of a percent, standing at 997.38.
Leading the gainers was the communications index, which climbed 1.62 percent to 639.54, followed by the oil and natural-gas issues, which stood at 1,152.73, up .28 percent. The biomed stocks advanced .21 percent to 878.50, while the rest of the technology index stood at 324.15, down .44 percent, and the real-estate issues lost .19 percent to 358.94. The bank stocks stood at 1,158.69, down .28 percent as the financial institutions fell .37 percent to 1,144.21, including a seven-tenths-of-a-percent drop to 1,416.41 by the insurance index.
