First Massive Ascent to Sa-Nur Since 2005 Uprooting

An ascent by hundreds of families and others to the northern Samarian (Shomron) Jewish community of Sa-Nur, uprooted by the Israeli government as part of the Disengagement of 2005, is scheduled for Sunday as part of observances to mark the eighth anniversary of the expulsion of Jews from the region and Gaza. Interviewed by Arutz Sheva's Hebrew service, Director-General Shlomi Vermstein of the Samaria Regional Council said the happening, backed by the Israel Defense Forces and other authorities, will be the first of its kind after eight years of smaller, less organized efforts.

Vermstein noted that similar efforts became a tradition in the nearby uprooted community of Homesh and it is hoped that the same thing will happen in Sa-Nur, as well as uprooted communities of Ganim and Kadim.
