TRO Against Jewish Home Elections in Jerusalem

President Micha Gadron of the Habayit Hayehudi (Jewish Home-New National Religious Party) court ordered, Sunday, that an appeal of last week's elections in the party's Jerusalem branch be expedited. He also issued a temporary restraining order that no actions be taken that are based on the results of the election.

Shim'on Almaliach submitted the appeal, demanding that the results be voided and new elections be held, after the party's legal advisor decided that the ballots be invalidated over a disagreement between the Jerusalem branch and the party's municipal committee. Until the issuing of the order, local branch decided to proceed on the basis of the balloting, claiming that the elections were democratic and the municipal committee's stance was a political matter between party chairman Naftali Bennett and former Knesset member Zevulun Orlev.
