MK Shmuli: I'll Vote for Perry Outline

MK Itzik Shmuli (Labor) indicated on Sunday that he would vote in favor of the recommendations of the Perry Committee for Equal Burden of Service, which will be brought to a vote at the Knesset on Monday.

“The Perry outline is far from perfect and the main criticism of it is that it turns a state of inequality into law and places the main responsibility for its implementation on the next government. However, as someone who believes in the importance of the principle of equality in the burden and led the struggle for it in the street, I believe that it is important to support the initial proposal and not reject it outright,” said Shmuli.

"I believe in the idea that a young Israeli needs to do something for his country, be it military service or civilian service, and I'll fight for this in the committee," he added.
