The Knesset Finance Committee approved, Thursday evening, the Financial Arrangements Law that will accompany the 2013-2014 budget. Committee Chairman Nissan Slomianski said the committee prevented a serious blow to the middle class and weaker sectors.
This included cancellation of what was called the "housewife tax", as well as a levy on home improvements. Instead of an across-the-board income-tax hike, the increase was graded between one and two percent, depending on one's monthly income. Cuts in child support were less than originally planned.
