Surge in French Jewish Immigrants to Israel

Since the beginning of 2013 there has been a leap of tens of percentage points in the number of French Jewish immigrants to Israel. The figures were published by the Jewish Agency on Wednesday. The data indicates that by the end of the current year the expected number of Jewish people making aliyah from France will be about 2,500 people. This is an increase of 40 percent compared to the number of immigrants from France in 2012.

Jewish Agency Chairman Natan Sharansky flew out to Paris on Wednesday morning to attend a farewell ceremony for some 800 new French immigrants being repatriated to the Jewish homeland.. The flight was organized by the Jewish Agency.
