Yishai: EU Ban Regrettable but Could Bear Fruit

Member of Knesset Eli Yishai (Shas) responded, Tuesday, to a report about  the European Union banning funding and other cooperation with Jewish entities beyond the 1949 cease-fire line by saying, "It is regrettable that the Europeans continue their one-sided behavior while taking illegitimate actions. Their position is important, but more important are the opinions and beliefs of the citizens of the country and the duty of the state to ensure their safety and protection."

The former interior minister noted, "Because of embargo in the past, the Israel Military Industries were established - an inexhaustible source of national pride. One can only guess what will develop in Israel following the current ban."
