Compromise on Benefits for Military, Volunteer Service

There appears to be a compromise on a bill to grant benefits to people who finish military or volunteer service. Under the compromise, the benefits will be limited to seven years after the end of one's service.

Justice Minister Tzipi Livni appealed the original language of the legislation, which put no time limit on the benefit. Agreement on the language between the proposal's sponsor, Member of Knesset Yariv Levin, and Knesset Legal Advisor Eyal Ynon will lead to Livni withdrawing her appeal from before the Ministerial Committee on Legislation.
