It was announced, Sunday that the Israel Police, the Tax Authority and the Authority for the War on Drugs and Alcohol were joined by the Unit on Pharmaceutical Crime in the Health Ministry for an anti-drug and alcohol operation involving hundreds of businesses over the last few days. Inspectors gathered evidence of violations in 185 businesses and more than 190 suspects were arrested or detained for questioning. About 60 business owners were summoned for hearings on the continued operation of their businesses and some businesses were closed.
Hundreds of bags of material believed to be substitute drugs were seized around the country, as were dozens of pills, hundreds of grams of material believed to be drugs or substitute drugs and thousands of syringes. More than 1,500 bottles of alcohol were poured out.
