Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ended the first trading day of the week, Sunday, with modest to moderate gains. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,103.92, up .92 percent, while the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues rose .53 percent to 1,221.00, the same percentage increase meaning a posting of 1,101.77 for the TA 100. The stocks outside the TA 100 stood at 976.28, up half a percent.
Leading the gainers was the oil and natural-gas index, which climbed 1.75 percent to 1,125.50, followed by the communications issues, which stood at 616.52, up 1.4 percent. The insurance stocks advanced 1.19 percent to 1,379.62 as the financial institutions finished the day at 1,125.86, up half a percent, tempered by a .17-percent decline to 1,148.24 by the banks index. The real-estate index closed at 356.71, up .81 percent, and most of the technology issues gained an average of .57 percent to 323.78, while the biomed issues were virtually unchanged at 859.13.
