C'tee OKs Bill to Lower Dairy Prices

The Knesset Economics Committee approved, Thursday, an amendment to the Dairy Industry Planning Law that is intended to lower the target price for milk and retail prices for dairy products. The measure now goes to the Knesset for the second and third readings required for passage.

Taniv Rofe of the Agriculture Ministry told the committee that the outline of the proposal, formulated last fall, calls for annual increases of two percent in efficiency in the industry through 2016, with an annual decrease of almost two agorot per liter in the target price.
