Shekel, Dollars, Yen Down; Euro, Pound Climb

The official value of the shekel declined an average of .093 percent, Thursday afternoon, in mixed trading against the other currencies on the Bank of Israel's foreign-exchange list. The United States dollar was fixed at NIS 3.615, down .85 percent from Wednesday's rate, while the Euro jumped 1.072 percent to 4.7237 shekels.

The pound sterling was set at 5.4691 shekels, up .753 percent, while 100 Japanese yen edged up .011 percent to NIS 3.6422. The Canadian dollar was fixed at 3.4726 shekels, up .153 percent, while its Australian counterpart declined .828 percent to NIS 3.3293, and the South African rand was fixed at .3645 shekels, up .248 percent.
