Chairwoman Miri Regev of the Knesset Interior Committee announced, Tuesday morning, that the committee will meet with security and prison officials to discuss lessons from the suicide of alleged Mossad agent Ben Zygier, initially known as "Prisoner X" in the Ayalon Prison, following the disclosure of documents indicating that there is a new Prisoner X. Regev has held a number of meeting on the subject in recent months, some of them in a secret subcommittee of the Interior Committee.
Regev issued a statement that said, "We all need to learn, with an emphasis on security entities, from the Prisoner X case. Supervision of prisoners of this type, of security prisoners, certainly when it is an Israeli citizen. As someone who was chief military censor, I can say that sometimes the attempt to hide can be harmful to the image of Israel and the management of the prison, according to international codes. The Prisoner X was a loud and clear warning signal."
