The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange opened Monday-morning trading with modest gains. About 45 minutes into the session, the TA Composite Index stood at 1,086.79, up .13 percent, while the same percentage gain meant a posting of 1,084.56 for the TA 100, including a rise of .04 percent to 1,202.67 for the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 edged up .05 percent to 960.22.
Leading the way was the communications index, which advanced .32 percent to 575.94, followed by the bank issues, which stood at 1,130.72, up a quarter of a percent as the financial institutions rose .16 percent to 1,103.61, including a gain of .07 percent to 1,336.67 by the insurance stocks. The real-estate index stood at 352.65, up .16 percent, followed by most of the technology issues, which rose an average of .14 percent to 316.23, while the biomed stocks stood at 864.46, up .09 percent. The oil and natural-gas index was virtually unchanged at 1,101.64.
