Ministers Reject Students Voting Where they Learn

The Ministerial Committee on Legislation rejected, Sunday, a bill by Member of Knesset Boaz Toporovsky (Yesh Atid), which would amend the law to allow college and university students to vote on the campus where they learn if it is more than 70 kilometers/44 miles from home. Justice Minister Tzipi Livni and Interior Minister Gid'on Sa'ar stressed that students should not get special privileges and other members of the committee fell in behind them.

Toporovsky responded by asking if other student benefits should be cancelled under the same logic. He called the two ministers's stance abusive.
