Spat in Petach Tikva over Lack of Jewish Home Primaries

Deputy Mayor Motti Zaft of Petach Tikva announced, Friday, that he was not running for city council as a candidate on the Habayit Hayehudi (Jewish Home-New National Religious Party) ticket.

Zaft explained that the party's branch council rejected a demand to hold primaries as it had promised during last year's registration drive. He added that the assignment of the deputy-mayor position to the second candidate on the ballot represented a defrauding of the voteers.
