2nd Latrun Suspect Released: House Arrest Alibi

The Rishon Letzion Magistrates Court ordered, Thursday, that David Hai Hasdai - one of two suspects arrested this week in connection with arson and other vandalism at a monastery in Latrun, about halfway between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv - be released to his home in Beit El, after it became clear that he was under house arrest and the supervision of his parents at the time of the incident. The court order called for 10 days of house arrest and signing on a financial bond.

Attorney Adi Keidar of the Honenu legal-aid organization was granted an urgent hearing, Thursday, after the court extended Hasdai's remand to Friday. Keidar realized after the Tuesday hearing that Hasdai's parents had confirmed the alibi to police during his interrogation but the police failed to focus on that, as required by law.
