The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ended the trading week, Thursday, with modest gains in mixed trading at low volume, possibly tied to the Independence Day holiday in the United States. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,077.77, up .19 percent from Wednesday, while the TA 100 rose a quarter of a percent to 1,075.51, including an advance of .48 percent to 1,195.09 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 declined .95 percent to 954.81.
Leading the gainers was the communications index, which gained .69 percent to 576.80, followed by the bank issues, which finished the day at 1,118.58, up six tenths of a percent as the financial institutions rose .36 percent to 1,093.03, including a posting of 1,323.14, up .03 percent, by the insurance stocks. Most of the technology index closed at 313.73, down .28 percent, while the biomed issues lost .78 percent to 850.01. The real-estate stocks stood at 348.54, down .36 percent, while the oil and natural-gas index fell .53 percent to 1,097.33.
