Charged with Passing Cellphones to Security Prisoners

An attorney from northern Israel was charged, Thursday, on suspicion of passing cellular telephones to security prisoners in the Shata Prison, between Afula and Beit She'an in the eastern part of northern Israel, by exploiting his status as a lawyer to receive a light security check. According to the indictment, one of the prisoners was Fatah terrorist Muhammad Naifa, serving a 13-year sentence.

The attorney was ordered held until the end of the legal proceedings against him. The official charges are bribing a prisoner and supporting a terror organization.
