James W. Rawley, the United Nations Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process visited Gaza on Wednesday. He criticized Israel's border control and said residents of Gaza should have more freedom to send things across the border into Israel. "These restrictions impede development," he was quoted as having said by the AFP French news service. A resident of Gaza told Rowley he was upset that his could only ship his materials through Israel "through four or five stations."
Gaza is currently controlled by Hamas. It is bordered by Egypt, the Mediterranean Sea and Israel.
