Ya'alon Declares 'Price Tag' as 'Unlawful Association'

Following up on cabinet action, Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon declared, Monday morning, that “price tag” vandalism constitutes “unlawful association.” The phenomenon gets its name from the Hebrew words “tag mechir” that are spray painted as part of vandalism against Arab or leftist targets, ostensibly in response to acts or threats against Jewish communities in Judea or Samaria (Shomron).

By virtue of the declaration, authorities can hold suspects longer – including until the end of legal proceedings, bar them from meeting with attorneys during interrogation and seize their property. This applies to people who originate or disseminate the ideology, as well as those who fund it. In making the declaration, Ya'alon said the phenomenon does not represent the values of Judaism or the state of Israel.
