Shalom Feels Kerry will Continue until Talks Resume

Minister Silvan Shalom said, Monday morning, that Secretary of State John Kerry of the United States is determined to achieve a breakthrough in the impasse between Israel and the Palestinian Authority and, in Shalom's estimation, Kerry will continue in his mission until it succeeds.

Interviewed on Kol Yisrael government radio, the Likud Beyteinu lawmaker noted that Israel has already said it is ready to renew negotiations without preconditions, while the other side is presenting a long series of unacceptable conditions. He said Kerry's talks over the weekend got stuck because of that. Shalom stressed that the matter of a building freeze was never an obstacle, adding that Israel was not ready to get to a situation of allowing the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria (Shomron) to dry up.
