Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ended the first day of the trading week, Sunday, with modest gains. The TA Composite Index closed at 1, 074.41, up .17 percent, while the TA 100 rose .18 percent to 1,071.45, including a gain of .07 percent to 1,190.50 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 edged up .02 percent to 963.84.
Leading the gainers was the insurance index, which climbed .91 percent to 1,329.08 as the financial institutions finished the day at 1,095.43, up .11 percent despite a decline of .18 percent to 1,121.08 by the bank issues. Most of the technology stocks advanced an average of .59 percent to 311.89, while the biomed index stood at 850.09, up .03 percent, and the real-estate issues gained .27 percent to 346.09. The communications stocks stood at 561.49, down .22 percent, while the oil and natural-gas index fell .81 percent to 1,119.88.
