Rabbi Igra Announces for Chief Rabbi

Religious-Zionist Rabbi Eliezer Igra announced, Sunday afternoon, that he would run for the position of Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel. He will submit his application in the next few days.

Rabbi Igra received support in a secret rabbinical ballot a few months ago and is accepted in many rabbinical circles. He said he was asked to run by rabbis who presented the importance of experience on a rabbinical court, recognition of the system and its challenges and the ability to deal with them in an appropriate, professional manner.
