Health Ministry Preparing for Shortage of Epilepsy-Drug

The Pfizer pharmaceutical company informed the Health Ministry's pharmaceutical branch, Thursday that shortages of one of its epilepsy medications are expected in the upcoming months due to  a worldwide shortage in one of the raw materials.

The Health Ministry issued a statement that it is prepared to deal with the temporary shortage. The statement read, "The ministry found alternative sources for procurement of suitable substitutes for the medicine and gathered the professionals including epilepsy experts, representatives of HMOs, clinical pharmacologists and pharmacists to establish professional guidelines for possibility of switching from the medicine to an alternative medicine."
