Rabbi David Lau to Run for Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi

After much deliberation, Rabbi David Lau is poised to seek the candidacy of Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of the State of Israel. The position is for ten years and candidates cannot run again for a second term. Rabbi Yitzchak Dovid Grossman has decided to withdraw his candidacy. Rabbi Lau is the chief rabbi of the city of Modiin. He is the son of former Chief Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau and served in the Israel Defense Forces.
