Netanyahu: Talks Alone Won't Amount to Anything
Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu stated that starting negotiations with the Palestinian Authority just for the sake of talking will not amount to anything. "Our aim is not only to enter [talks] and 'check off the box' of starting negotiations, our aim is to persevere in the talks and to continue them for a period of time in order to try and deal with the issues and reach an agreement that will resolve the essential issues of the conflict. That needs time, determination and a methodical approach and I hope the Palestinians have this. That is our approach and I hope it is also theirs," the Prime Minister said, in a statement released by the Prime Minister's Office on Tuesday. Israeli proponents of the talks say they will bring peace. Israeli opponents say they will result in more territorial compromise which will endanger Israel.
