World Likud leader Danny Danon is expected to be elected, Tuesday, when the Likud party holds an election for chairman of the party convention. A request by hareidi-religious members of the party to change the date due to the 17th of Tammuz fast was denied.
Danon will run on Sunday against Michael Puah and Yossi Shevo for the chairmanship of the Likud Central Committee. Sunday will also see elections for chairmanship of the party's secretariat, its politburo, president of the party court and members of the constitution committee. Deputy Minister Ze'ev Elkin and former Member of Knesset Eli Gabbai are running to chair the politburo, while Member of Knesset Tzachi Hanegbi will run for a spot on the constitution committee.
