Vice President Ya'akov Tzaban of the Jerusalem District Court accepted a plea bargain, Monday morning, in the December 21st attack on Rabbi Nathan Grossman, editor of the hareidi-religious newspaper Hapeles. Chaim Perlstein pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated assault. Sentencing is scheduled for September 9th. Prosecutors are seeking a sentence of 10 months behind bars while the defense is seeking community service.
Rabbi Grossman was editor of the Yeted Ne'eman newspaper for 25 years until a year ago, when he was fired after an ownership change at the newspaper. About a month later, he helped to found Hapeles to compete with Yeted Ne'eman.
