The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange opened Monday trading with modest losses in mixed trading. About half an hour into the session, the TA Composite Index stood at 1,086.07, down .28 percent, while the TA 100 declined .31 percent to 1,082.94, including a .24-percent drop to 1,207.88 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 rose a quarter of a percent to 979.76.
The same percentage increase meant a posting of 851.39 for the biomed index, while the rest of the technology issues lost .34 percent to 310.22. Leading the gainers were the communication stocks, which stood at 563.96, up seven tenths of a percent, followed by the bank index, which advanced .22 percent to 1,153.89 as the financial institutions slipped .06 percent to 1,130.27, due to a 1.02-percent fall to 1,382.27 by the insurance stocks. The real-estate index stood at 347.48, down .44 percent, while the oil and natural-gas index declined .62 percent to 1,152.56.
