About two weeks ahead of the first anniversary of the passing of Rabbi Yoseph Shalom Elyashiv, leader of the Lithuanian hareidi community, the rabbi's memory will be invoked, Sunday evening, as thousands gather at the Binyanei Ha'uma Jerusalem Convention Center for a festive culmination of the reading of the tractate Eiruvin in the Babylonian Talmud, according to the Daf Yomi daily reading cycle. In a number of circles, the "siyyum" of the tractate took place earlier. The gates are scheduled to open at 7:00 p.m.
Rabbi Aharon Leib Steinman and other rabbis are scheduled to address the gathering, an initiative of the Dirshu and Toda'ah organizations for dissemination of the Torah, assisted by the Jerusalem municipality. There will also be a presentation regarding Rabbi Elyashiv's later years.
