Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ended the first day of the trading week, Sunday, with modest losses. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,089.16, down .11 percent, while the same percentage decline meant a posting of 1,086.35 for the TA 100, including a slip of .08 percent to 1,210.83 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 stood at 977.36, down .26 percent.
Leading the gainers was the communications index, which rose .66 percent to 560.06, followed by the biomed issues, which stood at 849.24, up .08 percent, while the rest of the technology stocks lost .79 percent to 311.28. The oil and natural-gas edged up .06 percent to 1,159.76. Worst hit among the losers were the insurance stocks, which fell .96 percent to 1,396.52, as the financial institutions finished the day at 1,130.94, down .68 percent, including a drop of .49 percent to 1,151.35 by the bank index, and the real-estate issues stood at 348.92, down .19 percent.
