Health Ministry Reports a Case of West Nile Fever

The Health Ministry reported, Thursday, that there were four suspected cases of West Nile Fever in Israel since the beginning of May, one of which turned out to be a true diagnosis. There were 101 cases last summer.

West Nile Fever is transmitted to human beings by mosquitos that have fed on infected birds. In about a tenth of the cases, the disease can cause a severe reaction, including inflammation of the brain.
