Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange posted modest gains, Sunday at the end of the first day of the trading week. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,099.85, up .38 percent, while the TA 100 rose .39 percent to 1,097.38, including a .24-percent gain to 1,225.11 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 stood at 988.23, up .06 percent.
Leading the gainers was the insurance index, which jumped 2.38 percent to 1,390.96 as the financial institutions finished the day at 1,140.23, up .81 percent, including an advance of .37 percent to 1,170.54 by the bank issues. The communications stocks closed at 567.15, up .98 percent, followed by the real-estate stocks, which gained .88 percent to 352.47. The biomed index stood at 851.81, while the rest of the technology stocks declined nine tenths of a percent to 314.60. The oil and natural-gas issues rose .44 percent to 1,170.04.
