Jerusalem Streets to be Shut Down for Formula 1 Racing

On one hand, the Formula 1 racing event is yet more proof that Jerusalem is venturing into a new era of international acclaim. On the other hand, it may be hard for residents to get home. The streets will be shut down as world class race cars zoom down the city streets for the first time. The event was purposely planned to showcase the backdrop of the ancient Old City walls. The Jerusalem Municipality has released a press statement regarding the closure of streets and banning of parking.

"The following roads will be closed to traffic on Thursday June 13th from 12:30 noon to 8:00pm and on Friday June 14th from 7:30am until 4:00pm.

Streets closed:

Tzanchanim (from Sachs) going South. Kikar Tzahal Tunnel in both directions. Hativat Yerushalayim, Jaffa Gate. Derech Hevron from Tzomet Chashmonaim going North. Yitzhak Kariv, King David, Agron Street from Kikar Paris to the East, David Remez Street, Keren Hayesod Street from Shalom Aleichem Street going south. Jabotinsky from Kikar Palomar to Itzhak Elhanan. Bethlehem Road between Emek Refaim Street Junction and King David.

Alternate routes:

From the north of the city to the south of the city: Paratroopers - Sachs - Haneviim - Agrippas - Bezalel - Ben-Zvi Boulevard. The south of the city to the north city of Hebron Road - Miriam HaHasmonaite Street - Bethlehem Road - Emek Refaim - Martin Luther King Drive - Shalom Aleichem - Keren Hayesod. Also, Menachem Begin Blvd (Route 4).

Changes to the parking arrangements:

There will be no car parking on the street on Derech Hebron between Navon Square to Jerusalem Brigade Street from Tuesday June 11th through Friday June 14th and no parking on David Remez Street starting Wednesday June 12th through Friday June 14th and King David Street, Liberty Bell Park, and the First Train Station parking lot as of Thursday June 13th through Friday June 14th.

All vehicles park in these streets will be towed away.

If you are coming to watch the show, please use the train and special shuttles operate to get to the show.

Special shuttle buses will run free from the Teddy Stadium parking lot and Kiryat HaLeom to the show on Thursday from 2:00pm until 9:00pm, and on Friday from 9:00am until 4:00pm.

If you will be using the light rail,  please park at the following spots: Pisgat Ze'ev parking lot, Ammunition Hill Parking lot, or Mount Herzl parking lot.

Light rail:

If you will be using the light rail, please buy your tickets ahead of time or use the Rav Kav card.
