Chief Rabbi Selection C'tee Expanded to Include 4 Women

The Knesset approved, Tuesday morning, the second and third readings of an amendment to the Chief Rabbinate law that will expand the committee making the selections from its current ten members to 11 members. Under the amendment, at least one of the representatives from the cabinet, the Knesset and the Bar Association will be women. The expanded committee will include a female "pleader" from the rabbinical courts, chosen by the justice minister.
