First: Religious Jew Named to French Parliament

Vice Chairman Meyer Habib of the CRIF umbrella body of French Jewish communities won a runoff election against former leader Valérie Hoffenberg of the American Jewish Committee in France to become the representative of  French expatriates living in Israel and other Mediterranean countries in the French parliament.

Habib is a religious Jew of Tunisian ancestry, the first religious Jew to be elected to the parliament. He told Arutz Sheva that his election was "the pride of the Jewish people".
