Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange opened the trading week, Sunday, with modest gains. The TA Composite index closed at 1,109.75, up .63 percent, while the same percentage increase meant a posting of 1,108.35 for the TA 100, including a rise of six tenths of a percent by the TA 25 most-widely invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 stood at 980.41, up .31 percent.
Leading the sectors was the communications index, which rose .56 percent to 550.68, followed by the oil and natural-gas issues, which stood at 1,160.75, up .38 percent, and the biomed stocks, which gained .34 percent to 851.39 while the rest of the technology index ended the day at 319.39, up three tenths of a percent. The real-estate issues advanced .19 percent to 361.65, while the bank stocks finished the day at 1,192.04, up .09 percent. The same percentage increase meant a posting of 1.165.72 for the financial institutions despite the loss of a tenth of a percent to 1,428.89 by the insurance index.
