Jerusalem Dwelling Grant Cancelled

By a vote of 31-22, the Knesset approved, Monday evening, the first reading of a government dwelling-loan bill which seeks to cancel the special grant given to people who buy or expand a home in Jerusalem. The cancellation of the grant is being sought due to its cost to taxpayers. Implementation of the measure has been delayed since it was passed in 2001.

Former Finance Committee chairman Moshe Gafni sought to have the vote on the bill have the status of a no-confidence vote.
