New PA Prime Minister Hopes His Term is Short


Newly-appointed Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, said, Tuesday, that he would strive to continue the work of predecessor Salam Fayyad and that he was ready to stand aside for a Fatah-Hamas unity government, according to Agence France PresseInterviewed by Voice of Palestine Palestinian Authority radio, he said he expected to be in office until mid-August, when a unity government is due to be created.

Hamdallah said, "The new government will be a continuation of the last government, most of the ministers will continue to serve in their positions," adding his cabinet was "part of the reconciliation efforts". He continued, "I hope that by August 14th, president Abbas will form a new government according to the agreement between Hamas and Fatah."
