PM Told Putin Israel Won't Let Missiles be Operational

When National Security Advisor Ya'akov Amidror told European Union diplomats, last week, that Israel won't let Russian missiles sold to Syria become operational, he may have been citing a hint by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to Russian President Vladimir Putin during their last meeting, according to a Friday report by the Ma'ariv daily. According to Middle East diplomats who were updated about the high-level meeting, the hint was that Israel would destroy the missiles on Syrian territory before they became operational.

Those present at the Netanyahu-Putin meeting in Sochi were reportedly shocked by Israeli's audacity opposite the leader of one of the world's major powers. The newspaper said Amidror used language similar to that of the prime minister.
