The head of the Gush Etzion region council Davidi Pearl came out against the policy of restraint on Tuesday. Israel Defense Force Chief of Staff Lt. General Benny Gantz told the Knesset earlier in the day that “if we let go of the reins, there will be escalation and we will lose control.”
Pearl stated that while he was appreciative of the soldiers and commanders, "I believe that the continued policy of restraint will lead to disastrous consequences for both the IDF and the communities." Pearl called the recent rash of attacks in which agitators throw heavy rocks and bricks into oncoming traffic and into residents windows "a war of attrition." He called for more action stating, "the IDF must provide full support for soldiers in the field to act decisively and with confidence."
