The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange started Tuesday-morning trade with modest to moderate gains. About 35 minutes into the session, the TA Composite Index stood at 1,111.89, up seven tenths of a percent, while the TA 100 rose .73 percent to 1,109.57, including a .67-percent rise by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 stood at 993.76, up .65 percent.
Leading the gainers was the insurance index, which climbed 1.51 percent to 1,393.15 as the financial institutions stood at 1,136.89, up 1.24 percent, including an advance of .98 percent to 1,165.92 by the bank issues. Next came the communications stocks at 567.36, up 1.28 percent, and the real-estate index, which gained 1.07 percent to 355.13. Most of the technology issues rose an average of .47 percent to 322.18, while the biomed stocks stood at 859.71, up 42 percent. The oil and natural-gas index advanced .28 percent to 1,166.21.
