The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange opened Monday morning trading with modest gains in mixed trading. About 50 minutes into the session, the TA Composite Index stood at 1,103.95, up .11 percent from Sunday's close, while the TA 100 rose .12 percent to 1,101.39, including a gain of .08 percent to 1,225.14 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 declined .09 percent to 985.10.
Leading the gainers was the communications index, which advanced .51 percent to 559.81, followed by the bank issues, which stood at 1,152.87, up .41 percent as the financial institutions rose two tenths of a percent to 1,119.99 despite a slip of .05 percent to 1,365.17 by the insurance stocks. The real-estate index stood at 350.89, up .31 percent, followed by most of the technology issues, which averaged gains of a tenth of a percent to 321.38, while the biomed stocks fell .27 percent to 852.78. The oil and natural-gas index stood at 1,163.59, down .17 percent.
