Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ended the first day of the trading week, Sunday, with modest to moderate gains. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,102.75, up .82 percent, while the TA 100 rose .79 percent to 1,100.10, including an advance of .72 percent to 1,224.12 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 stood at 985.96, up 1.08 percent.
Leading the gainers was the insurance index, which climbed 1.1 percent to 1,365.90 as the financial institutions finished the day at 1,117.74, up .43 percent, reflecting a .31-percent decline to 1,148.19 by the bank issues. Most of the technology stocks gained an average of 1.03 percent to 321.05, while the biomed index stood at 855.05, up eight tenths of a percent. The communications issues advanced .78 percent to 556.98, just ahead of the real-estate stocks, which posted a closing figure of 349.82, up .77 percent, while the oil and natural-gas index rose .73 percent to 1.165.58.
