The Chicago Tribune reports, The massive tornado that devastated an area near Oklahoma City injured 237 people and the number of dead may rise beyond the current official count of 24, Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin said today.
"We don't have any firm numbers on the numbers of deaths that have been experienced," Fallin said during a news conference, says The Chicago Tribune, "There may have been bodies that were immediately taken to local funeral homes," added Fallin.
Plaza Towers Elementary School took a direct hit, and miraculously, children survived unhurt, notes The Chicago Tribune.
"They literally were lifting walls up and kids were coming out," Oklahoma State Police Sergeant Jeremy Lewis said, quotes The Chicago Tribune, "They pulled kids out from under cinder blocks without a scratch on them."
