Report: Israel to Extend Summer Time to EU Model

The apparent direction of the committee taking a renewed look at the extent of Summer (Daylight Savings) Time is to recommend to Interior Minister Gid'on Sa'ar that Israel extend the length of Summer Time to that observed in Europe, according to a Tuesday-morning report by the Yisrael Hayom daily.

Europe spends 218 days with the clocks set ahead. In the past, Israel has averaged 182 days of Summer Time with religious concerns generally dictating the change. The law was changed last year to expand it to 193 days.
