Tourism Minister Uzi Landau welcomed, Tuesday morning, the cabinet's rejection of imposing value-added tax on services for foreign tourists as part of the approval of the 2013-2014-budget. He said, "The government made a responsible decision. I was not ready to accept a situation where thousands of workers would go home [without jobs]. This is a boost to the entire tourism industry."
The Hotel Association echoed Landau's sentiments, thanking him for his efforts to defeat the tax. An association statement said, "The tourism industry will grow to new heights and prove that tourism is an important growth engine to the economy."
