Helicopters Join Fight Against Locusts

The Ministry of Agriculture began using helicopters, Monday morning, to monitor, from the air, a larger area of locusts that are hatching and feeding on crops in the Negev. The ministry said the picture from the air is encouraging, with fewer swarms being observed.

The ministry also opened a telephone line for the public to report the hatching of locusts or the taking of swarms to the air in their areas, which is expected in the coming days. The line (08) 992 0981 will operate between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
